K and I got together after work today.  She needed new glasses and asked me to help her pick some out.  We had a short visit, though productive, but it was fun.  Her and I always tend to have fun together….and we really are trying to get our friendship back to what it used to be.  It seems that we are doing much better this time around.  We are actually back to talking on a daily basis and spending time together.  This weekend, actually, we are planning on heading up north.  Her and I are from the same small town and we plan to take a little road trip up to visit.  We used to do that trip together all the time….we are looking forward to it…and margaritas!! 

Anyhoo…I am so very sleepy tonight as I’ve been going into work earlier than usual.  Thankfully I can sleep in till 6am tomorrow!!

Ok…as you can see, I have not posted in a few days.  Not because I don’t want to….but because I don’t know WHAT to.    There are a few blogs that I’ve been reading religiously (even though I don’t always comment)…and I LOVE what I read.  However, when it come to me, I’m totally stumped. 

So….as silly as this may be, I’m going to go over a few people that you may read about in my blogs.  I decided that if I write a post about the people who may be involved, I won’t need to explain later.  Well, hopefully. 

“K” or “PTQ” will refer to my very best friend of 12 years.  Her & I met in 1996 in college.  I am 3 years older than her…well, more like 2 years and 10 months.    Her & I have had a rocky time the past 2 years, but we are busting our asses to get things back the way they were.

“Mini-K” will refer to K’s daughter.  She is 2 years old and OH. MY. GOD. cute!!   

“J” is K’s boyfriend, father to Mini-K, and best friend of “M”. 

“M” is my love.  Hehehe.  He and I have one hell of a history.  We dated in high school for a year or so, but then remained the closest of friends.  We always knew what was going on in each other’s lives and we kept in touch.  We dated again for 3-ish years, before splitting up 2 years ago….my fault.  We still love each other.  Messed up, right?? 

“E” is my little sister.  She is 15 and thinks/acts as if she’s my age.  She’s a punk.  No, not a punk like punk rocker…I mean punk like a little trouble maker.  You know….trouble in school, trouble with her parents.  Speaking of parents, she is actually my step-sister.  Her dad married my mom.  She knows we aren’t blood related, but we’ve been together since she was 2, and if someone tries to tell her she doesn’t have a sister, she gets really mad.  It’s actually kind of cute.    She’s a punk, but I love her and will always look after her.

“Momma” & “Bella” are my 2 cats.  Momma’s name is actually “Chloe”, but she’s the mother of Bella….so Momma stuck.  According to the vet I adopted them from, they are only approximately 6 months apart.  In April, I will have had them a year. 

“D”, “A”, and “Izzy” are all women I work with.  All of which are friends of mine, as well.

Off the top of my noggin, these are the main people in my life.  With exception, of course, to all my parents.  I have 4.  Mom, Stepdad, Dad, and Stepmother.  My mom and I are so very close.  And, I lucked out in the step parent department, as both of mine are the best.

On Tuesday, very early in the morning, there was a fatal car accident about a half hour-ish from where I live.  This accident was on a MAJOR highway.  It involved a mustang and a big rig.  Guess who won? 

Anyway….the truck was traveling north.  The car?  Traveling south…IN THE NORTH BOUND LANE!!  Yes, you heard me right.  The car got on the highway headed south in the north bound lane.  HOLY CRAP!!  The car and truck hit head on….killing the driver of the mustang.  The driver of the truck was able to get out right before it burst into flames.  He was able to walk away with minor injuries.  Did you hear that?  The truck burst into flames….not to mention that the mustang bust into 2 pieces and ejected the driver.

I heard of the accident Tuesday morning shortly after I got to work.  A woman & I were discussing it.  I was all “Oh my god, that’s terrible….blah blah.”  Who wouldn’t think that, right??  But you always wonder how someone manages to get on a highway going the wrong way.

In todays newstories, it was released that the driver of the car has actually been suffering mental illness for quite some time.  It is now believed that this person actually caused this accident ON PURPOSE to take his own life!!  On purpose….HOLY CRAP!!

So….here’s the sad part.  There’s a death.  This person, I’m sure, has family and/or friends that care about him.  Now, they are suffering from the loss of this person.

The infuriating part??  This guy involved a completely innocent person in his plot to take his own life!  THAT makes me mad.  So mad!

This may be my opinion, but I’m entitled to it.    I cannot fathom why people commit suicide in the first place.  There are times I think my life sucks like hell….but really?  I don’t think it sucks that bad.  I guess I think you have every right to take your own life if you want to for whatever reason.  However, I don’t think you have the right to involve innocent people.  There will already be loved ones involved, as they are losing someone they care about.  But why involve complete strangers??  People that were minding their own business?  The driver of that truck has to live with the memory of this accident for the rst of his life.  How fair is that??  I don’t understand…and it makes me mad.

So, “mustang guy” decides he wants to kill himself.  Ok….that’s his right.  So….why not drive your car into a tree?  A building??  Off a cliff, even?  Why WHY did he chose to slam head on into a big rig??  Is it because he cared so little about his own life that he had no regard for anyone else’s?? 

Here’s just one more example.  A couple months ago, a teenager jumped off a bridge.  This bridge had a highway underneath it.  Thankfully (I know that sounds wrong), but thankfuly, he landed on the shoulder of the highway….rather than the windshield of an oncoming car.  Sad?  Absolutely!!  He had barely begun to live before he took his life.  Infuriating?  YES!!  Think of the horrific scene that could have been if he landed on a car!!  That car would slam on its breaks causing a multiple car collision….which could’ve caused more deaths among many injuries.  Keep in mind that the kid jumped during morning rush hour traffic.

I hate to sound mean, if I do.  I’m not trying to…I do feel bad for the families involved.  I just can’t figure out why so many more innocent people must be involved.

I pulled into the driveway today when I got hone from work….stopping to check the mail, as I always do.  I open the mailbox (hoping and praying for my most recent eBay purchase) and see one lone envelope.  It’s not a bill, as it is handwritten.  I don’t recognize the handwriting and look at the address….which is actually just down the road from me.

Inside, I find a card with a floral pattern on it.  Confused, I open it to find the following written inside…

       “C-

             Just wanted to drop you a note to say how sorry I am for your most recent loss (your dog) and the loss of your wonderful cat.  I know your pain.  The good news is that their love stays with you forever!

Now, isn’t that NICE??  I was floored….and just stared at the card for a few minutes.  Now, here’s the kicker…the very best part of this story.  I don’t know this woman!!  This just goes to show that there really are genuinly nice people in the world!!  I struck up a conversation with this woman, “N”, when I was at the gym on Wednesday.  We started talking about animals and our pets that passed away….and as you know, I just lost a dog last week.  But really, I’d have never expected something so thoughtful from a woman who is, basically, a stranger.

Her kindness put a smile on my face…and in my heart. 

Today, I give myself the “Idiot Award”…and, I share my story with you. 

I need to be at work for 8:30am…this means that I need to leave at 8am.  I NEED to leave at 8am….but I normally push my limits on a daily basis, leave at 8:10am, then drive with my leadfoot.  Anyhoo…I left at my usual 8:10am and headed to work.  Traffic where I live sucks like hell in the morning.  The interstate I needed to get on was at a DEAD STOP.  So, I sit there, tapping my fingers on the steering wheel wondering if I should wait it out and be late, or head to the next major highway and actually make it on time.  I opted for the latter.

There I am…headed down the highway.  Things on this road are as smooth as expected during rush hour.  At least the traffic was actually moving.  So, I’m headed toward the next road I need.  Not paying ANY attention to the fact that I’m in the wrong lane!  Next thing I know, I’m staring at a toll booth!  A TOLL BOOTH!!!  I say to myself, “Self, what the HELL did you do???”.  I call myself a dumbass…that’s what I do.   

Obviously, I cannot blow a U-ey at the toll booth.  I get my ticket and head in the direction AWAY from my job.  I call work, explain to them that I am a moron this morning who has not had enough coffee yet.  I pay my .30 toll at the first exit I could turn around at.  Then off I go….headed back in the direction that I just came from….just to spend another .30 to get off where I screwed up in the first place. 

Now, I have done this sort of thing before.  I don’t know WHY I do it, as normally when it happens, I know EXACTLY where I am!!  I get involved in my driving, my music, my nice hot cup of coffee…..I have no idea.    I have wanted to get on a highway going south, but got on headed north and not even realized it for 2 exits.  Hahaha.  Seriously.

So, in closing, I tell you this.  I had tried to avoid this huge traffic jam this morning as to arrive to work on time.  Because of my head being in the clouds, do you realize that I was a HALF. HOUR. LATE!!  So therefore, I deserve the Idiot Award.

The town I’m from holds an annual Winter Carnival.  It is a week long event that has fireworks, a parade, and even a “Carnival Court”….complete with a King & Queen.  This has been tradition for over 100 years.  Some of you may think this is really cool….while others, well, may not.  And that’s okay….you know what they say about opinions. 

Anyway….each year, an ice palace is built from blocks of ice cut out of the lake.  Depending on the weather, as it obviously needs to be cold to get the ice, the palace can be lame or it can be this great sight to see.  There have been times in the past that when they start to build the castle, the weather warms up and it starts to melt.  When that happens, it needs to be knocked down….for safety precautions.  This years castle was very nice…complete with a small tunnel that you could “slide” through to get to the inside.

The theme for this years carnival was “Hooray for Hollywood”.  Though I am by no means a photographer, please enjoy the few pictures I’ve posted of the ice palace. 

 This past Tuesday, my 13 year old black lab/new foundland mix had to be put down.  His name was Milo…and he had cancer.  The big C.  SOOOO sucky.  It was in his leg…and it was swollen and he couldn’t walk on it.  Amputation could’ve been an option if he were a smaller dog….and younger.  Why remove body parts from an animal that is so old?  That seems cruel. 

Milo live with my parents (and our 2 other dogs) about 2 hours from me.  I was unable to say goodbye to him, which breaks my heart.  I did have my mother snuggle him, kiss him twice, and tell him I love him.   I am very sad for all of us….though I am thankful that Milo is no longer in pain.  This does come at a very bad time for me, as just one year ago I had to have my beloved cat of 14 years put down, as well.  Yikes.  It is so tough having to say goodbye to our 4 legged friends.  They become such a huge part of our lives.

Milo…I love you and you will be missed.

So, here it is….my very first blog.   There are a couple that I read faithfully….and I’ve been thinking of starting my own….but it has taken me time.  My life is my life….and I personally don’t think people somewhere out there would necessarily be interested in my life.    I suppose we shall see.  As I get the hang of this whole blogging thing, maybe I will get better….and my life will sound oh so interesting to you all.   Please bear with me….but please check in on me now and then, too!!
